At St. James'
Close to Seaford station, a centre for many activities and facilities for the disabled.

At The Old Town Hall
In the town centre an ideal drop-in point for coffee and a chat.
The Beginnings:
Seaford Voluntary Association was formed in 1989 by a group of residents, with the aim of community provision for elderly persons, and persons with physical or mental disability. The main vision has always been for people to be encouraged out of their homes and enabled to take an active role in suitable activities in the community. People matter!

The Buildings:
In 1992, a lease was taken on the Old Town Hall in South St. and a tea / coffee 'drop-in' opened in the town shopping area, open 6 days a week. Four years later a freehold industrial site near the station was bought. The main building proved to be the town's 18th century Poor House. It has been fully restored, and its 3 large halls provide versatile accommodation. The building (known as St. James') is now much used by various caring community groups. A wood drying barn has been converted into a workshop offering art and pottery facilities. There remains a large Victorian factory building, which will provide further facilities when funding is available.

The Way Ahead:
An enthusiastic team of local volunteers sustains all our activities. The original vision is constantly being worked out and challenged as we move forward. The way ahead will be interesting, as the work of the voluntary sector finds a developing role alongside NHS, Social Services and other professional caring bodies.
Seaford Voluntary Association became a registered company called St James' Trust (Seaford) in 2005.
