The
Friends of Seaford Library began
formally in September 2000 after a small group of people noticed an article in
the 'Seaford Resident Newsletter' outlining the work of Library Friends Groups.
It highlighted the success of the Lewes Library Friends in negotiating for a new
library building, and this was of particular interest.
The refurbishment of Seaford Library
in April 2004 was a step in the right direction and encouraged a remarkable
increase in the number of library users. Seaford is currently one of the busiest
libraries in East Sussex.
We are very proud of our caring and
helpful library staff; they are regularly praised by all of the library users,
and now enjoy the benefit of working in a bright and happy environment.
Even after an excellent refurbishment, Seaford Library obviously did not
increase in size. It remains therefore, one third of the size specified in the
original government guidelines for a town with our size population.
PROOF INDEED that Seaford needs a NEW and LARGER
library and this is the main objective for Friends of Seaford Library.
