Dear Member
Nick and the Committee would
like to wish all our members a very Happy New Year and
let's hope we
don't get any further arctic
weather so that we can start planning our gardens for
the new season. (Surely we deserve a good summer after
this!).
Please support our outings
programme for this season which Anne has kindly arranged
(See Excusions). When you
have had a chance to look through the list please see
Anne to book those you would like to go on.
Unfortunately two made losses last year and we cannot
afford to let this happen again so any outing which does
not reach the required numbers will have to be
cancelled. It would be very disappointing to have to
discontinue our trips out after all these years as I'm
sure many of us look forward to them and have enjoyed
several days out in the past.
Anne is also planning two
Newmarket trips this year as follows:-
19 June - 1 night - BBC
Gardeners' World Live - £99.00 inclusive.
8 October - 3 nights - Lindisfarne and Alnwick Garden -
£209.00 inclusive.
If you are interested in one
or both of these please phone Anne on 01323 491331 as
soon as possible so she can ascertain numbers.
Silver Anniversary
Yes - we have reached our
Silver Anniversary this year. Shall we have a tea party
to celebrate or would you prefer to do something
different? Any suggestions to Anne please.
Christmas Dinner
Our Christmas meal went with a
swing - lovely food, good Christmas atmosphere and
better seating arrangements than last year. Our raffle
raised a total of £47.00 towards funds and we're sure
that everyone present enjoyed themselves.
Paradise Park. Newhaven
Paradise Park is having a loyalty day on
Wednesday 24 February. New loyalty cards can be collected then on
production of your club membership card and old loyalty card. Special
offers are available on this day and you just have to spend £5.00 on
plants to receive a £1.00 plant voucher.
Seaford in
Bloom
Seaford in Bloom will be celebrating their 20th
Anniversary this year and will advise later of any event they are
planning to mark the occasion.
They have arranged the following events this
year:-
Wednesday 24 February at 12.30 - 2.00 p.m. Soup, Spud and Pud lunch at
St Leonard's Church Hall.
Tickets at £6.00 each are available
from Fotobox or Rowland Gorringe.
Tuesday 13 July - Judging of the
floral competition.
Sunday 18 July - Open Gardens
Day.
Friday 29 October - Quiz Night in
St Leonard's Church Hall.
Discounts
The following local shops are pleased to offer
the club discounts as follows:-
Bishopstone Nurseries, 5 Dane Road, Seaford,
confirm they offer a 10% discount to members on all plants and cut
flowers (apart from Interflora) on production of your membership card.
Dymock Farm Shop, Chyngton Lane North,
Seaford, confirm they offer a 10% discount to members on all plants and
cut flowers on production of your membership card.
We look forward to seeing you at our meetings
on the last Wednesday of the month starting at 7.30 p.m. in Blatchington
Hall at the Clinton Centre, Clinton Place. Doris has again been very
busy in putting together some interesting talks for us and don't forget
that visitors are very welcome at a modest cost of £2.00.
Looking at the above dates - Wednesday 24
February seems very popular as it's the date of our meeting also - so
anyone going to all three will have a very busy day!
