The Twelfth Seaford in Bloom Awards Ceremony took place at the new Annecy School Hall Seaford on Friday 19th August, the first time the event has been held at this venue.

Chairman Isabel Stephenson welcomed 110 Seafordians to the new venue and thanked everyone, including all the different clubs and associations who so generously give their support each year. She then introduced Ashley Stephenson L.V.O who presented an entertaining slide show "A year in the life of Seaford in Bloom". The show began in March with the arrival of over 400 plug plants that are carefully nurtured to be ready for sale at the May Spring Market.

Ashley then gave an informative insight into the hard work that Isabel and her committee undertake to raise funds throughout the year to provide and maintain the many floral displays adorning the town. He thought the quality and colour of the plants was better than ever this year and backed this up with some excellent slides of the varied and picturesque floral containers scattered throughout the town. It was great to see Town Clerk Len Fisher looking well and on behalf of the Town Council, he thanked Isabel and her committee for all their efforts and Ashley for his excellent presentation.

After the refreshment break, Isabel welcomed the Mayor of Seaford, Councillor Marion Lambert, and thanked everyone for their help and support in the three fund raising events held so far this year. She expressed her gratitude, on behalf of Seaford in Bloom, to Seaford Town Council, who always give their full support, Lewes District Council, the Rotary Club of Seaford and the various Seaford societies and organisations who continue to support us.
Isabel thanked the Seaford in Bloom judges Ashley and Philip, for the eleven long hours they spent judging the Floral Competition in July, and her committee and their spouses for all the hard work they do for the benefit of Seaford in Bloom and the town.

The Mayor commenced the awards ceremony, and congratulated all the individual prizewinners. Carole Tidy, Stephen Newberry and Patrick McCausland personally presented their donated award trophies to the respective winners. The Patrick McCausland Trophy for special contribution to Seaford in Bloom went to Gerald Baker who is "always there to help" the committee. There was a new award, the Ivy Price Cup, which this year went to the "Best New Entry" and was presented by John Price.

After the awards the Mayor thanked Seaford in Bloom for inviting her to present the Trophies and complimented them on this year's selection of flowers that helped to create such a beautiful Seaford.
Isabel closed the evening with a reminder of the next fund raising event "A Quiz Night" to be held at this same venue on Friday 7th October. Tickets are on sale now at £6 per person and teams of four are required. Details will be posted around the town.
