Householders have a number of opportunities to recycle many items. The council operate kerbside collections, the Household Recycling Centre, and many "Bring-to" sites around the town and operate "Furniture Now" to re-cycle larger items.
In addition, people can make their own compost from kitchen and garden waste, take their unwanted books and clothing to the charity shops and their ink cartridges and mobile phones to the Town Council Offices at Hurdis House in Broad Street, Seaford.

Commercial premises do not fall within the council's remit and must pay for their refuse to be collected by the council (or anyone else).
However, this doesn't mean you can't do your bit for the planet by recycling where possible. By paying a commercial firm to take away your glass, paper and cardboard, you can reduce the amount of general refuse taken away by the council and thereby reduce the bill. Added together, the total you spend should not exceed what you are paying the council now. Plus - you will get the "feel-good" factor of doing your bit for the environment and addressing some of your "duty of care" responsibilities.
